It’s that time of year again: Back to School! And because I run an elementary school library, it’s back to school for me, too! I’ve been very productive this summer with my writing, completing the first three books in my new series for girls, ages 8-12: Evie and the Volunteers. I will miss the extra summer writing time but look forward to seeing all of the little faces at school. Next week several children’s book authors will be participating in a back to school blog tour. More information to come. Until then, check out the first book in the Evie and the Volunteers series.
Yes, it’s been a very, very long time since I updated this blog. Between writing, working, and caring for my family, the hours and minutes are stretched thin. And if I need to make a choice between writing my next book or updating my blog, I’ve consistently chosen my books. However, I realize the importantance of advertising and networking with other writers and readers, so I’m committing to spend more time blogging.
Over the last three years, I’ve published 13 books, short stories, and novellas on Amazon. All of the books are contemporary fiction and range from children’s to adult, with most being sweet romance. I have networked with other indie writers and know that many have been able to quit their jobs to write fulltime. I am not at that point in my career, but I am at the point where I am finally making more than I am spending…and it feels great. I get feedback from readers who leave reviews and as I’m enrolled in Kindle Unlimited’s Amazon program, I get daily updates of the number of pages of my books that are being read. How cool is that? Writing is more than a hobby. No, I can’t quit my day job, but I’m climbing the ranks, and knowing that I am in control with what and how much I write motivates me to keep trudging because what greater joy can you have in life than to love what you do?

She just didn’t know how–until she saw the notice at the university center advertising jobs at the northern Michigan ski resort turned summer playland. Yet, recalling the details of her abandonment by her parents at the lodge sixteen years earlier proves harder than anticipated with work, roommates, and love interest Finn biding for her time. Then the boss’s bad boy nephew Lawson makes her a deal too tempting to pass up that might get her closer to the answers hidden in her past. And one too many unwelcome guests checking in to the lodge throws everyone off-course for an end-to-summer that no one will forget.
As a relatively new author, Kindle Unlimited has worked to increase my visibility in the Amazon marketplace, which is what I had hoped for. I know there is a lot of talk about the merits of this program, but my footprint at Amazon has increased as I continue to release new books, so, for me, the program is currently working. I’d love the thoughts of other authors making less than four figures a month (or from readers that love/hate the program)

I have been MIA in regards to blogging. It is so hard to balance the writing life between marketing and creating (not to mention the balancing act of raising a family and working!) So, I am back, and I do apologize that my first time back is a shameless plug. I am very proud of the complete TO KNOW ME series and am happy to release the full series as one downloadable set. I hope you are all having a fabulous summer.

What reviewers are saying:
A truly relatable story. Everyone has moment of uncertainty or embarrassment like the one. Great for pre teen and teenage girls
This was a great short story. I read it thinking I would just pass the time with it but it surprised me… even made me cry at one point.
This story leaves a smile in your face. The main character Lexie is a brave and kind person. Even though life is not always perfect, sometimes unexpectedly, good things do happen out of our most challenging life experiences. We should always try to believe and be true to ourselves!…
